The Eigenharp Alpha and Tau both feature a headphone output located on the back of the instrument.
In the Alpha and Tau factory setups each instrument has its own independent send to the headphone output.
To configure the headphone output there is an advanced control mode within the factory setups. The controls available include:
Headphone gain Headphone enable Send Level controls for each mixer channel
Press the main mode key and choose 'Split 1'. The location of Split 1 will vary depending on which Factory Alpha Setup you are using, for help finding Split 1 please see page 3 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Turn to page 13 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Press and hold Keygroup 1's mode key, then choose the key labeled "7 - Headphone and Microphone" on the diagram.
This is the Headphone and Microphone advanced control mode. You can find a diagram on page 25 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Press the main mode key and choose 'Split 1', for help finding Split 1 please see page 3 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Turn to page 11 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Press and hold Keygroup 1's mode key, then choose the key labeled '7 - Headphone' on the diagram.
This is the Headphone and Microphone advanced control mode. You can find a diagram on page 22 of your Quick Reference Guide.
Before the headphone output will function it must be enabled.
Follow the steps above to access the Headphone and Microphone advanced controls.
Turn to page 25 of your Quick Reference Guide (Alpha) or page 22 of your Quick Reference Guide (Tau).
Press the key marked 'Headphone enable' to enable the headphone output.
To enable the headphone output using Belcanto:

You can use the Eigenbrowser to check the status of the microphone:
Choose 'Eigenbrowser' from the Tools menu.
Once the Eigenbrowser has opened turn again to the 'Advanced Headphone and Microphone Controls' diagram (for Alpha page 25 of your Quick Reference Guide, for Tau page 22 of your Quick Reference Guide).
For Tau there is a key labelled '3 - Headphone Browse', for Alpha there is a key labelled '12 - Microphone and Headphone browse'. Press this key.
Take a look at the eigenbrowser. All the headphone settings are listed in the right hand pane.

Turn to page 25 of your Quick Reference Guide (Alpha) or page 22 of your Quick Reference Guide (Tau).
On the Tau there is a key labelled '2 - Headphone gain', on the Alpha the key is labelled '4 - Headphone gain control'.
This key is a nudge key for adjusting the headphone's gain. Press either the bottom or top of the key (along the roll axis) to nudge the gain up or down.
To adjust the headphone gain using Belcanto:

On the diagram there is a group of keys called 'Heaphone send nudgers'. Each instrument in the setup (e.g. cello, audio unit 1, sampler 1, clarinet, drummer) has its own headphone send nudger which controls the volume of that instrument in the headphones. Press either the bottom or top of the key (along the roll axis) to nudge the volume of that instrument up or down.
Use the browser to view the headphone send level of each instrument:
Choose 'Eigenbrowser' from the Tools menu.
Once the Eigenbrowser has opened turn again to the 'Advanced Headphone and Microphone Controls' diagram (for Alpha page 25 of your Quick Reference Guide, for Tau page 22 of your Quick Reference Guide).
For Tau there is a key labelled '4 - Console mixer browse', for Alpha there is a key labelled '11 - Mixer browse'. Press this key.
Take a look at the eigenbrowser. In the left hand pane there is a list of all the instruments in the setup. Use the mouse to click on the instrument you wish to inspect.
Now in the right hand pane you will see all the mixer settings for that particular instrument. There is a field called 'headphone fx send', the number next to this tells you the current volume of that instrument in the headphones.
