Hi everyone,
Following yesterday's Eigenharp Clubhouse and the participant's interested in the actual internal design of the Eigenharp, I talked to John today about him doing the lecture he gave at the Audio Engineering Society in London last June. This would happen online using Google+ Hangouts as a special guest speaker during one of the clubhouse dates. As a reminder, it takes place on Mondayss at 4pm CEST.
The talk will introduce the instrument before exploring the engineering challenges that were encountered and solved as part of its eight year development process. The sensor design, physical layout and communications system will be described along with a discussion on the importance of different types of software instruments, the emerging Open Sound Control standard and the use and limitations of MIDI in expressive environments.
Before setting this up, we'd like to know who would be interested in such a lecture which will include some highly technical engineering topics, but also fascinating details about how our wonderful instrument came to life.
Take care,
Geert
