For soundfonts I use Vienna Studio (Creative), but it only runs on windows.
EigenD must understand sf2 files, and we have the code available. There's at least one python library that can read and write them from a collection of wavs.
Am I right in saying that all an eigenharp player would need is the ability to map samples to a note/velocity range, and that all the 'expressive' qualities of the old sf2 format (vibrato, FX etc) are mostly superseded by effects and keypress data from the Eigenharp?

Yes, at least for me, the point it to play the expression vs. stuff being in the SF itself
