OK..
I still have something on the back of my mind, about loading *.sfz into Alchemy... and it's You can!

Update to the latest Alchemy Player 1.25, and click FILE then Load (point to the dir you have the *.sfz) and
voilá... *.sfz inside Alchemy Player 1.25! (more info here www.camelaudio.com

Happy *.sf2 AND *.sfz playing

I must be doing something daft... please could somebody show me what :)?

I've downloaded a couple of soundfonts (one is an sf2, one a folder with an sfz in - I've read conflicting reports on which format Alchemy supports).

I've put them both in ~/Library/Eigenlabs/Soundfont - but I can't see how to browse to them in Alchemy - the left-most drop down only has 'Factory' in it, I was expecting to see 'User' in there as well!

Can anyone see the (no doubt daft) mistake I've made?

Thanks!

Hi martinthompson,

Well, it's not really a mistake..
Alchemy is an AU or VST plug-in; by default loaded into EigenD slot AU 1 and it does not take/load Soundfonts to it (that's why you can't browse the presets and find *.sf2)

Short version (to use/play with *.sf2 and only *.sf2!!!)...
- select Sampler 1 or 2 or 3
- run EigenBrowser (cmd+B - hope you are on osx)
- main mode key+4 Instrument/Fx Control
- mode key (1 on the right) +1,2 or 3 on the left) for Sampler 1, 2 or 3 Control
- and if you press key 3 - (Sampler 1,2 or 3) sample browse wil be available on EigenBrowser
- you can then scroll in ~/Library/Eigenlabs/Soundfont and load it/double tap

Hope this helps; I use STAGE for a bit more visual control of EigenD, I even "exposed" Sample browse for the Sampler's (similar to the AU)
you can DL and import into STAGE
keyman PICO Sampler 1

Happy *.sf2 playing!

P.S - even simpler with Belcanto (1.4.12)
(Eigenbrowser has to be running)

in EigenCommander:
sampler 1 listen
eigenbrowser listen
sample browse

Aha - my daft mistake was to confuse Alchemy with the Samplers. Doh!

Many thanks keyman!
