i have actually found the janko keyboard layout (wikipedia has an entry for this) is my favorite over the experimental harmonic table layouts you used above. i am going to post a new thread about janko and isomorphic layouts in general.

So.... With us woodwind players, the lower the finger down the instrument the lower the pitch.
Eigenharp is unfortunately the reverse. Fingerings close to your face are lower.
This is very tough for a windplayer to unlearn. So I tried this with a custom user scale.

[inverted chromatic 1]
;wind player chromatic scale
intervals=12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0

Hey it worked.......... almost. I flipped the fingering all the way down to the (user) right lowest key.

Last left skipped back up to the notes first right 4 notes........

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this for a true scale inversion with all 16 keys?

Yup, I tried transpose with little sucess...

Eigenlabs? Could you fix this for us Toot-n-Blatt Players? Pretty Please?

Any other tweaks I could make myself?

ok. some more thoughts/hacks;
Yes........I could invert the pico. But then I'd need a longer breath pipe.
Software is software for a reason, YES?

And I remember being advised NOT to open it and flip the keypads...... got the impression it wouldn't
work.

I think that if you'd use this, it would work:

[inverted chromatic 1]
;wind player chromatic scale
intervals=13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0

intervals=0 -1 -2 -3 -4 -5 -6 -7 -8 -9 -10 -11 -12

Man...... I was practicing the old Chicago "color my world changes last night ......man are arpeggio'ed 7 chords a challenge for a newby.

I tried both geert and jim's scales and they work.

Here's another one I came up with. This one puts the notes straight down each row instead of jumping across rows every 4 keys. I like this layout better because it makes the keyboard isometric.

I'm not sure why the 17th note is required... I think it's a bug.

intervals=15 14 13 12 7 6 5 4 11 10 9 8 3 2 1 0 -1

Tried a bunch of "scale lab"experiments today, nothing worked......

have not tried to hack your isometric solution yet fzzy......
but loads of thanks for the chromatic scale..... it's sweet.

Crazy huh? esp tough for me cause I'm mildly dyslexic.

I've got baby/family duty tonight..... No Pico cause I gotta watch my
little living Pico 2 year old Vi-Vi. (Violet. -check out Babybott2 on
Utube.) a big Holidaze thanks if you've the time to try the above.

Yeah... that seems to be the 17th note bug I mentioned in my post... If you add a garbage 17th note to the scale it fixes both of your examples.

[inverted major]
intervals=26 24 23 21 19 17 16 14 12 11 9 7 5 4 2 0 -1

[inverted major isometric]
intervals=26 24 23 21 12 11 9 7 19 17 16 14 5 4 2 0 -1

I'm loving the inverted scales, it definitely feels more natural to me. Thanks!

Hey folks,

just a quick note (sorry)

you can do this if you want the extra note to be at the upper end of an
major inverted scale:

intervals=24 23 21 19 17 16 14 12 11 9 7 5 4 2 0 -1 -3

makes it easier to use Geerts chord tutorial with the lower key group.
(althought you'll have to invert the finger shapes ) ;)

I 'll leave the isometric version for you to figure out. It works too.

just a copy of all the "scale lab" work for folks to use.

copy and make it a text file (.txt) name it UserScales.txt
