Alpha: updating Alpha firmware to 1.7?

Im digging around the USB and firmware loading code at the moment, to try a few ideas out.

During this ive noticed that my Alpha (v4) is running 1.6, and the latest version is 1.7, is there any reason not to update it?
do you have a change list for 1.6 to 1.7?
