Perfect! Thanks for that Geert - the VST version works with no problems at all.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi All,
I'm trying to build a setup that includes an arpeggiator VST (Kirnu) in front of an audio unit, so that the keypresses drive the arp, which in turn drives the AU instrument. This seemed straightforward, and when I create two Audio Unit agents, in the form Keygroup->Scaler->AudioUnit (Kirnu)->AudioUnit (FXPAnsion Cypher) -> Audio, it automatically creates a link from the MIDI out of the first AU and connects to the MIDI in of the second. I can see from the Kirnu UI that it's producing notes, but there's no sound coming from Cypher. Is there something I need to be aware of or that I'm doing wrong, or should this work?

Thanks,
Mark.

Hi Mark,

You probably need to disable Tail Time Enable in the Cypher audio unit agent. I suspect that it might never leave the Idle state since no key data is arriving to activate it.

Best regards,

Geert

Thanks Geert. I'll give that a try.

Hi Geert,
I've disabled the tail time on both AU's and I'm still having the same problem. I've also tried a different instrument VST (u-he ACE). Do I need to configure anything to route the midi input coming into the Audio Unit agent to the plugin that's housed within it, or should that happen automatically?

Thanks as always for your help.

Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark,

I investigated further and it turns out the that underlying application framework that we use for hosting the plugins (Juce) doesn't support AudioUnits that send out MIDI (it just throws the generated MIDI away). I'm looking into why this is the case and if it can be improved for a later release. In the meantime though, you can download the VST version of Kirnu and use that instead. It works fine in the way you hooked it up, provided you turn off the tail time of Cypher.

Hope this helps,

Geert
