General Discussion: OT? Midi+Audio interface

The RME Babyface has good audio quality, low latency, MIDI and mixing features. If you don't need many I/Os and the (non-rackmounted) form factor is ok (it's smaller than 1/2 rack).
It is the only USB interface I ever had, so I can't compare. Did not find anything to critcize yet, it just works.

Hi all,

I've come to the conclusion that I can't do without my Patchman'ed VL70m synth for wind instruments, but the Pico makes a great controller for it. And some of the time I'll use EigenD instruments too.

So what I need for my "rack" is the following:
1) A USB midi interface (to drive the VL70m)
2) A line mixer to mix the USB audio with the VL70m audio and output it analoguely to the PA - ideally with proper knobs on it for the relative levels. And a separate headphone output so I can audition things before inflicting them on the rest of the band :)

I have these as individual items, but was wondering if anyone knows of a (not too expensive) all-in-one option (ideally rackmounted, 1/2 space would fit nicely next to the VL70m)?

Thanks in advance!

Martin

I'd have a look at the 1/2 rack MOTU interfaces, they combine audio and MIDI.

Thanks geert, I'll take a look at those.

Another vote for MOTU. I've had an Ultralite Mk3 in my rig for a few years now and it's been really good. Having 10 inputs is more than I need right now, but at least I have expansion capability, and the MIDI works really well. And it's a good size, not too small but also not too large, a half rack 1U format.
